16 Feb Premiere Healthcare To Join Indiana University Health
Bloomington-based Premier Healthcare plans to join Indiana University Health Southern Indiana Physicians this May.
In a statement, Premier Healthcare President Wesley W. Ratliff says by joining IU Health, Premiere will be better able to provide high-quality health care.
“With healthcare in a state of change, we were looking for a partnership that would strengthen recruitment efforts and allow for further alignment with Indiana University Health and Indiana University School of Medicine,” Ratliff said in a statement. “As a group, we are looking forward to joining IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians and are excited about the opportunities a new regional campus will bring to the area.”
Premier Healthcare staff will become employees of IU, but most medical providers will still provide care at their current locations. Premier says patients should not notice much of a change.
Matt Bailey, president of IU Health South Central Region and IU Health Bloomington Hospital, is pleased with the new relationship.
“Ultimately, this new solution will create additional opportunities for all parties concerned as well as exceptional patient care,” Bailey said in a statement.
The move is awaiting approval from the Indiana University Health board on Feb. 22. If approved, the transition will take effect on May 1.
