22 Feb New Interactive Map Predicts Where Crashes Might Occur Statewide
A new interactive map from the Indiana State Police can help predict where crashes are most likely to occur throughout the state.
ISP partnered with Management Performance Hub to develop the map in an effort to reduce accident fatalities. Indiana’s seen a spike in fatal collisions since 2011.
Sgt. Curt Durnil, with the Indiana State Police Public Information Office says officers plan on using the tool frequently while patrolling.
“Our goal is to protect life,” Durnil says. “And a tool like this we can use that to our advantage, to put more resources out on the road where they’re needed.”
The website gives updates of road conditions every three hours and includes the risk of a crash between those times.
Predictions are color-coded by crash risk, showing drivers when travelling is safer based on weather, traffic and road conditions.
Drivers can access the map online.
